Lamentations 3:25- “the Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him.”
In July of 2020, camp abide was canceled due to the pandemic. A few pastors from across Florida decided to still have a camp for the youth group kids but keep the numbers small. At this small camp in Sebring, FL, with only 60 students- Connor and I met for the first time! From here we started a friendship and kept in touch for many months. We reunited again the following year at Abide and saw each other occasionally at the other’s church. These two years bonded us as we discovered how much we had in common and how well we worked together as good friends. But it also grew us spiritually as we learned to trust the Lord in whatever he had for us- whether it was college or a relationship together. In July of 2022, we reunited again at abide. This time knowing it was the last time we’d see each other before we parted ways to pursue university life. Only this time, we discovered a mutual interest in each other to pursue dating.
Our first few months were long distance as I was at the Master’s University and Connor was pursuing work at home in Florida. In October of ‘22, I decided to come home and sharpen up my homemaking skills as we dated. During winter break, I moved back and did just that! Connor and I had the privilege of dating for another year in the same state.
On July 9, 2024, Connor proposed at Abide. It was a sweet sentimental tribute to the camp that God used to bring us together. We look forward to the ways that God will use us to glorify Him together. May we bring Him more glory as a couple than any day we could apart!
